Removing the Mask #HereForOurHeroes
When soldiers come home from war, it's estimated that roughly half of them will experience some symptoms of PTSD as a result of their experiences. Trying to adjust to life back home is extremely difficult and many veterans feel the need to "put on a mask" and refrain from speaking of their pain and trauma.
The Wounded Warrior Project is "Removing the mask to end the stigma" of mental illness, more specifically PTSD. By removing the mask, veterans are exposing the invisible wounds from war and hopefully alleviating the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, such as depression, nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, etc.
